Concept
Precast Easifix is a dry fix system
and one
of the simplest
ways of
installing glass blocks. A revolutionary two part U channel
manufactured by Glass Block Technology allows you to fit precast
glass block panels quickly and easily.
Precast Easifix is an ideal product for bar fronts, counters,
dividing walls, virtually any straight non fire rated glass
block panel.
USING
PRECAST EASIFIX:
Precast Easifix is only recommended for internal use.
Precast Easifix is not fire rated.
Precast Easifix can only be used for straight applications.
Precast Easifix can only be manufactured using 80mm glass
blocks.
Precast Easifix aluminium channel can be left exposed
or the panel can be framed by using a clip on plasterboard
cover strip that creates a clean line between plasterboard
& glass blocks. Alternatively a decorative moulding.
Two
types of panel are available: standard or interconnecting.
The
panel illustrated left was restrained into a vertical wall,
floor, ceiling and the safewall system using an end post. This
was secured using boss sections, top and bottom to create a
secondary vertical jamb.
Precast Easifix panels always require a perimeter border.
The reference band is used around the perimeter of panels
to bond the blocks together. This is hidden within the channel
and the U channel clamp securely holds Precast Easifix panels
in place. The channel is available as standard in white but
can be powdercoated to any RAL or BS colour. (Dependent on
lead time and quantity.) The U channel works in two pieces,
the main section is fixed to the perimeter opening. The cover
plate is bolted to the first section, creating a clamp. The
U channel can be left exposed as this picture shows.
Connecting
joints are dependent on the size and type of panel. This panel
was manufactured in three pieces with two horizontal connecting
joints. The 4mm joints require grouting after the panels are
installed.
Alternatively,
plasterboard cover strips can be slotted over both sides of
the U Channel and then the plasterboard slots behind the cover
strip.

Finishes
The aluminium channel is available in a white powder coated finish,
it can also be powder coated in any RAL or BS colour to special
order. The plasterboard cover strip is available in white UPVC as
standard.

Precast Easifix panels are custom manufactured to specification
and a whole variety of combinations are possible. Precast Easifix
can only be used in conjunction with 80mm thick blocks but by using
different sizes of glass blocks all combinations of design can be
